Qualcuno potrebbe chiedersi: ma cosa diavolo c’entra il cinema con i Mondiali in Brasile? Alla fine, è solo calcio. Osservazione legittima, ma contestabile (guarda il corto animato della Nike, The Last Game, e i poster cinematografici delle nazionali). Primo perché cinema e sport sono sempre andati a braccetto, condividendo una vasta gamma di emozioni; secondo perché questa ventesima edizione del Campionato più importante del pianeta va oltre il pallone, per la posta realmente in gioco, per i valori di un popolo diviso come mai, e per lo spettacolo che offre in campo.
Quanto avvenuto in preparazione e alla vigilia di questi Mondiali sembra proprio strizzare l’occhio a Hollywood, a partire dal teatro in cui si svolge la storia. Il Brasile è da sempre un Paese dalle mille contraddizioni, che negli ultimi mesi hanno raggiunto il picco di intensità con le proteste dei cittadini sulle strade. Paradiso e inferno sono due facce della stessa medaglia nel mondo carioca, dove la presenza del Cristo Redentore domina su tutto e tutti, osservando i fatti dall’alto del Corcovado.
In una location così suggestiva, arrivano 736 protagonisti, molti dei quali visti non solo come semplici calciatori, ma come star assolute, simbolo di una nazione. Si è detto che i calciatori sono i supereroi di oggi, e il Brasile è un campo di battaglia ostico, perfetto per misurare il proprio valore. Ieri sera, San Paolo ha alzato il sipario sul Torneo, con una cerimonia d’apertura coloratissima e spettacolare, diretta da un italiano, Franco Dragone: titoli di testa meravigliosi di ciò che sarebbe accaduto sul campo di lì a poco, dove non sono mancati i colpi di scena tra Brasile e Croazia.
Stasera tocca a Spagna e Olanda sfidarsi, remake della finale 2010 con gli orange in cerca di vendetta, e domani ci siamo Noi, pronti a scagliarci contro l’Inghilterra a Manaus, alle porte dell’Amazzonia, in un clima da survival movie su un campo quasi impraticabile. Se non fa cinema questo…
