E’ un film molto particolare Boyhood, diretto da Richard Linklater e vincitore dell’ Orso d’argento per la Miglior regia al Festival di Berlino 2014. La particolarità di questo film è che la lavorazione è durata 11 anni, dal 2002 al 2013, per raccontare la crescita di Mason (Ellar Coltrane) e il rapporto con i genitori divorziati (Ethan Hawke e Patricia Arquette). Nel maggio 2002 il regista e sceneggiatore Richard Linklater annuncia che nell’estate inizierà a girare il film e ogni anno, per dodici anni, Linklater ha radunato la stessa troupe e lo stesso cast per girare alcune scene, al fine di seguire la crescita dei personaggi a pari passo con quella degli attori. Il film segue la vita del giovane Mason, dagli otto anni, quando frequenta la scuola elementare, fino ai vent’anni, quando entra al college, raccontando il rapporto con i genitori divorziati e il rapporto conflittuale con la sorella Samantha, seguendo anche i cambiamenti culturali e politici degli anni.
