Robert”Fish” Fishman è un batterista di una band glam metal degli anni ’80 che dopo esser stato espulso dal gruppo non perde la sua passione per il rock e il metal. Avrà una nuova occasione per provare a dimostrare il suo talento e per continuare a sognare quando il nipote gli chiederà di entrare a far parte della teen-band di cui è leader. Piuttosto riluttante all’inizio troverà anche il modo di innamorarsi della madre di uno dei giovani componenti del gruppo.
