I Boxtroll sono creature che indossano scatole di cartone e abitano nel mondo sotterraneo dove hanno accolto e cresciuto un piccolo orfano. Per lui, giovane protagonista della storia, loro sono l’unica famiglia. Ecco perché, quando la città e “le scatole magiche” saranno minacciate da un malvagio sterminatore, Arichibald Snatcher, non esiterà a uscire in superficie per correre in loro soccorso.
